Application scenarios and precautions of braking units

The supplier of frequency converter supporting equipment reminds you that the energy consumption braking unit is mainly used in situations where the frequency converter requires rapid deceleration, positioning, and braking. When the frequency converter is braking, due to the large inertia of the load, it will convert kinetic energy into electrical energy during braking, causing the DC bus voltage of the frequency converter to rise. In order not to affect the normal operation of the frequency converter, a braking unit must be used to consume the regenerated electrical energy, otherwise the frequency converter will skip the voltage protection and affect its normal operation.

The braking unit can be used in applications with high inertia that require sudden deceleration and parking. Such as elevators, textile machines, papermaking machinery, centrifuges, washing machines, wire drawing machines, winding machines, proportional linkage systems, overhead cranes, etc.

Points to note

The length of the connection between the frequency converter and the braking unit is less than 5m;

2. The length of the connection between the braking resistor and the braking unit is less than 10m;

3. DC and DC - are the two ends of the DC bus in the frequency converter.
