1. Universal frequency converter
Universal frequency converter is the most numerous and widely used type in the frequency converter family. As the name suggests, the characteristic of a universal frequency converter is its versatility. With the development of frequency conversion technology and the continuous expansion of market demand, universal frequency converters are developing in two directions: one is a low-cost and simple universal frequency converter that simplifies some system functions with energy-saving as the main purpose. It is mainly used in situations where the system speed regulation performance is not high, such as water pumps, fans, blowers, etc., and has the advantages of small size and low price; Secondly, in the design process, various high-performance and multifunctional universal frequency converters that meet the needs of the application were fully considered. During use, users can select algorithms to set various parameters of the frequency converter according to the characteristics of the load, and can also choose various spare options provided by the manufacturer to meet the special needs of the system. High performance multifunctional universal frequency converters can be applied not only to all application fields of simple frequency converters, but also widely used in elevators, CNC machine tools, electric vehicles and other occasions that require high performance of speed control systems.
In the past, universal frequency converters mainly used the U/f control method with a relatively simple circuit structure, which had poorer torque control performance compared to the VC method. However, with the development of frequency conversion technology, some manufacturers have already launched universal frequency converters using VC to meet the increasingly fierce competition in the frequency converter market. This multifunctional universal frequency converter can be switched to "U/f control operation" or "VC operation" mode according to user needs, but its price is on par with U/f mode universal frequency converters. Therefore, with the development of power electronics technology and computer technology, the cost-effectiveness of frequency converters will continue to improve in the future.
2. Specialized frequency converter
(1) High performance dedicated frequency converter.
With the development of control theory, AC speed regulation theory, and power electronics, the VC of asynchronous motors has been developed. The AC servo system composed of VC frequency converters and their dedicated motors has reached and exceeded the DC servo system. In addition, due to the strong environmental adaptability and simple maintenance of asynchronous motors, which are many advantages that DC servo systems do not possess, high-performance AC servo frequency converters are gradually replacing DC servo systems in high-speed and high-precision control requirements.
(2) High frequency frequency converter.
High speed motors are commonly used in ultra precision machining. In order to meet its driving requirements, a high-frequency frequency converter controlled by PAM has emerged, with an output frequency of up to 3 kHz and a maximum speed of 18000 r/min when driving a two pole asynchronous motor.
(3) High voltage frequency converter.
High voltage inverters are generally high-capacity inverters with a maximum power of 5000 kW and voltage levels of 3 kV, 6 kV, and 10 kV.
